While we all enjoy some well-deserved celebration and allow ourselves some hope in the aftermath of the progressive victories at the polls yesterday, the Right Wing slime machine grinds on. Living in San Francisco, sometimes one can almost allow themselves to believe that all the "swift-boating" and noise occurs in far-away places, like Alabama or DC.
So imagine the shock this morning when reading the San Francisco Chronicle's website, savoring all the stories about how Schwarzenegger has had his ass handed to him, and a banner ad for the local Fox affiliate pops up that made my head explode. We all know that advertising and news uses controversy to shock and make their message stand out from all the others, but this is over-the-top, and as insidious a piece of propaganda designed to subtlety influence perception as I have ever seen.
